The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekpo Ekperikpe, has promised that the government will finish a big training centre in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The centre, called the Centre for Skills and Development Training (CSDT), is being built by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
The minister visited the site to check on the work. He saw buildings like the auditorium, library, hostel, and places for heavy and light industry training. He told newsmen that the centre will train young people who need skills to get good jobs. “We want our youths to learn and become useful to the country,” he said.
The project is already 92% done. The minister asked the PTDF boss, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, to make sure it’s ready before the end of 2025. He said this fits President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope plan to give Nigerians better opportunities. “When this centre opens, it will change lives in the Niger Delta and beyond,” Ekperikpe added.
The PTDF boss, Ahmed Galadima Aminu, said they are rushing to finish the multimillion-naira centre. He hopes it will be fully working by the first three months of 2026. The centre will teach skills like welding and technical work for the oil and gas industry. “We want to help young people earn a living and stay out of trouble,” he said.
The PTDF is teaming up with local and foreign groups to make the centre a top training spot, not just for Nigerians but also for people in West Africa. This will bring more jobs and growth to the Niger Delta, where oil and gas are big business.
