Civil Society Groups Confirm Legitimacy of Arrests Targeting Oil Theft and Pipeline Vandalism

A coalition of civil society organisations has dismissed allegations of human rights abuses against Tantita Security Services Limited in the Niger Delta. After thorough investigations, the coalition confirmed that the security firm’s arrests were lawful, targeting individuals involved in oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism, thereby contributing positively to the region’s economic stability.

A coalition of civil society organisations has exonerated Tantita Security Services Limited from recent allegations of human rights violations in the Niger Delta region. The coalition’s leadership, including President-General Nneweke Jude and Secretary-General Abe Emmanuel Kolawole, conducted an independent investigation following public complaints and found the accusations to be unfounded.

The coalition’s findings revealed that Tantita’s operations have been instrumental in combating oil theft and pipeline vandalism, serious threats to Nigeria’s economic and environmental stability. The security firm collaborates closely with national security agencies, including the Nigerian military and law enforcement authorities, ensuring that its activities align with legal protocols. Individuals apprehended by Tantita are promptly handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and prosecution, adhering to due process.

The coalition commended Tantita’s contributions to stabilising Nigeria’s economy by enhancing oil and gas production, enabling the country to meet its production quotas. They urged the public to support Tantita’s efforts in securing the nation’s resources, ensuring transparency, and upholding the rule of law.

This development underscores the importance of collaborative efforts among security agencies, private firms, and civil society in addressing the challenges facing the Niger Delta region. The coalition advocates for continued dialogue among all stakeholders to address concerns and ensure that human rights remain protected in the pursuit of national security and economic stability.
