Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has gifted a total of four brand new buses to the state’s two major football clubs, Warri Wolves (men’s team) and Delta Queens (women’s team), to address their logistics challenges and motivate them for enhanced performance.
Governor Oborevwori presented the new vehicles to the clubs on Wednesday in Asaba, citing the donation as part of his administration’s commitment to sports development and alleviating the hardships faced by athletes and officials.
Addressing Logistics Challenges
The Governor explained that the donation was specifically prompted by recent difficulties encountered by the teams, particularly travel hitches caused by the old state of the clubs’ existing vehicles.
- Recipients: Warri Wolves and Delta Queens each received two new buses.
- Vehicles: Each club was given one Toyota Coaster bus and one Toyota Hiace bus.
The Governor stressed that providing reliable and comfortable transportation is crucial to easing the operational pains of sportsmen and women both on and off the pitch. He maintained that while Delta State performs well in sports across Nigeria, his administration must continue to provide motivation for greater success in their upcoming domestic and international engagements.
