A prominent Niger Delta former militant leader, General Endurance Amagbein (also known as Adaka Boro the Second), has publicly congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the appointment of the new Service Chiefs, describing the decision as timely and necessary to combat rising insecurity.
The Commendation and Demand
- Commendation: Amagbein expressed confidence in the new military leadership, stating that the appointments would help strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and restore the nation’s global pride. He specifically congratulated the new Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and the other service heads.
- Specific Demand/Appeal: The ex-agitator used the opportunity to urgently appeal to the new Chief of Defence Staff, General Oluyede, to revisit the investigations into the Okuama killings in Delta State.
- Reason for Demand: Amagbein lamented that despite the murder of soldiers and subsequent mass arrests, no one had been brought to justice. He further alleged that “unscrupulous surveillance contractors” are misleading authorities and instigating the wrongful persecution of innocent people, emphasising the need for collective intelligence and collaboration with credible regional stakeholders to achieve a true and complete picture of the incident.
