Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has called upon indigenes of the state to fully embrace peace and stability as the sole foundation upon which development projects can successfully flourish.

Core Message and Context

  • Core Message: Governor Fubara’s main message to the Rivers people is to ensure they sustain the current peace initiatives. He asserted that “genuine development can only thrive in an atmosphere of unity and stability.”
  • Specific Challenge to Development: The Governor stated explicitly that development projects cannot take root “in an environment of chaos.” He highlighted that political turbulence and instability are the main threats preventing the execution and successful completion of crucial projects.
  • Context of the Speech: Fubara made this appeal at a civic reception held in honour of his Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, in the Akabuka community of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA). He noted that the recent return of normalcy, evidenced by political actors now attending events together, demonstrates that peace is gradually yielding results and opening a new chapter for progress in the state.
