Calls for Inclusion to Reward Peaceful Disposition and Foster Development
Nnamdi Ezechi, representing Ndokwa East/West and Ukwuani in Delta State, has called for his constituency’s inclusion in the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme. He believes this move will reward the youths’ patience and promote development in the area.
Nnamdi Ezechi, the lawmaker representing Ndokwa East/West and Ukwuani constituencies in Delta State, has appealed for the inclusion of his constituency in the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme. In an interview in Abuja on Friday, Mr Ezechi highlighted that his area hosts significant gas reserves and numerous oil companies.
He commended the local youths for maintaining peace despite facing injustices and argued that including them in the amnesty programme would acknowledge their patience and support development.
“My people deserve to be rewarded for being peaceful and law-abiding, in spite of the injustice meted out on them,” Mr Ezechi stated. “The amnesty programme will help in bringing development and calming down the nerves of the youths, who have commendably remained patient.”
The Niger Delta Amnesty Programme was established on 25 June 2009 by then-President Umaru Yar’Adua to address militancy challenges in oil-producing areas.
